Dr. Daniela Albuquerque is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she graduated from the University of Brazil (UFRJ) with a summa cum laude Ophthalmology degree. She has developed a special interest in contact lenses, glaucoma, and oculoplastic surgery, and was actively involved in research. She has published several papers and participated in studies, including a recent one presented at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Congress in Barcelona.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Albuquerque cofounded a non-profit organization with her husband Dr. Henry Reis, to provide ophthalmologic exams to an underprivileged community in Rio de Janeiro and offer free consultations and surgeries in their private practice during special campaigns.
Dr. Albuquerque is currently our clinic manager and is proud of developing programs to enhance our patients’ experience by bringing a medical approach to Integra Eyecare Centre Optometry. She is not a licensed optometrist in BC and does not see patients for optometric care.
In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, traveling and spending time with her family. She also loves animals, specially her two cats, Alvin and Mya. Daniela is fluent is Portuguese and English, and is currently learning Spanish as well.
